CFD-Turbomachinery
On this page
Overview
Turbomachinery flows represent an extreme challenge to modelling and simulation. For the last couple of years, CFD has been invaluable in the design of a modern turbine or compressor. Numerical prediction has increased the dependence on CFD for improved turbomachinery design to achieve reduced weight, better performance and optimum costs. Providing CAE solutions to turbomachinery problems by geometric modelling, numerical grid generation, CFD analysis and solving and post-processing is a much sought after skill in industry. The knowledge of CFD methodology is used to solve varied CFD problems: turbulent flow in nozzles and diffusers; natural convection in cavities; flow through heat exchangers; a compressor cascade; centrifugal compressor blade passage and axial turbine; and the flow over a wind turbine. This knowledge is an asset for gainful employment. This course empowers students to conduct CFD analysis related to turbomachinery. |
